These basically refer to where the majority of your equipment is located. Some companies will have only one, others may have multiple locations.

For example a company that has only one factory, would require only one plant (available on the free light version) but a company that manages several residential buildings, may have as many premises as buildings it oversees (the professional or permium versions may be required for this added complexity).
